Something different - Being from Manchester, and a huge fan of the indie going out scene there, I've struggled to find the equivalent here in London - until I came across Barfly. Barfly has the great music and funkiness you'd associate with Shoreditch, but with less of the fashion conscious crowd. It manages to still be a place which is more about the music than what colour leggings someone is wearing. The bands can be hit or miss, but the venue itself is fun, and lends itself to the night. The music varies, normally indie upstairs and an eclectic mixture downstairs, including some rousing soul. A good - and not expensive night out to sing along to some classic tunes too...the crowd is fun too!
