appaling. Simple route. Driver started in right direction the veered off, we had to get him to go right way which seemed to annoy him. Later veered of again, headed in opposite direction into traffic jam, and said it was our fault. Left cab having paid for part journey. Called company, lady said she knew who he was and just laughed out loud.

Not great, but not terrible - Despite what others have said, I've been using Blackheath Mini Cabs regularly for the past couple of years. Their prices are competitive, espeically for airport pickup and drop offs, and they're never more than a few minutes late.

Unfortunately, for airport pickups some of their drivers have a tendancy to park in the departures drop off area to avoid the parking fees, and then call to ask you to walk from the arrivals area to meet them. This isn't acceptable considering they charge a £5 parking fee surcharge for airport pickups.

The quality of the cars used does vary considerably, from new a new Mercedes to an older Sharan, but the journey is always taken using the best route.

On one occasion, due to heavy traffic around Deptford, I was running late for a Heathrow airport checkin, and the driver drove a little over the speed limit on the M4 to make sure I arrived on time.

Overall, I don't think Blackheath Mini Cabs is as bad as other reviewers have found, but make it clear when booking that your airport pickup should be from the arrivals - not departures - area.

Beware of this mini cab firm - Be warned. My wife booked a people carrier to take her elderly Polish parents and her niece to Luton Airport from Greenwich, SE10. Blackheath Mini Cabs suggested the journey would take 2 hours and advised a 1 pm pick-up for a 3 pm check-in for a 5 pm flight. The AA website says the journey should take 1 hr 22 mins, going via London's West End and the M1. So 2 hours should have been fine.
At 10 past 1 my wife called them and was told "it's 2 minutes away." At 20 past 1 they said "it's 5 minutes away." At 1.30 an estate car arrived driven by a driver who was about to end his shift and they had persuaded him at the last minute to take the fare.
He drove them via Hackney and Chingford to the M25 (going north east and not north west through London), and by 3 pm they were still not on the M25 at Enfield. But the driver avoided the motorway and went all the way to Luton Airport via crowded high streets. They made the final check-in at 4.20 pm by the skin of their teeth and due to a lenient easyjet operative. The journey had taken over twice the time estimated by the AA due to bad route selection, plus there was the half hour delay in setting off in the first place.
In the meantime I had telephoned Blackheath Mini Cabs. I asked them if they had an insurance policy to pay for replacement air tickets if people missed their flights due to their poor, unreliable, and unprofessional service. They told me all their drivers are self-employed and it's down to each driver, not the company. They said they would phone me back and they didn't.
Perhaps other mini cab firms are just as bad, and leave passengers at the same risk of missing their flights due to a poor, inadequate service. On the other hand, I urge you to use any taxi firm other than Blackheath Mini Cabs. If they cause you a problem (like missing a flight and possibly being stuck at an airport overnight and having to buy a new ticket), they will accept no responsibility for the actions of their drivers.
