Palace it aint - Without a doubt this is the most disgusting hotel in which I have ever stayed. It cost about 50 pounds a night and I guess I should have known.
I had the distinct feeling that there were sordid activities going on in this hotel.
I arrived with a suitcase and they booked me into an upper floor room, but the hotel had no lift. I asked if they could help me by carrying my suitcase upstairs and they refused.
I told them I was going to leave and stay elsewhere because I didn't want to carry my suitcase upstairs and so, unfortunately, they booked me into a first floor room (I was disappointed because I really wanted an excuse to get out of there pronto).
The room was revolting. It had two doubles and a single bed, all of which basically took up the entire floor space.
I looked out the window and saw some really gross stuff out on the balcony, but will spare you the details. It was already night time and I didn't want to look for somewhere else to stay. I spread some of my shirts and clothing out over the pillow so my head wouldn't touch it.
Although the sheets were clean looking, I was terrified about what might be lurking inside the pillow.
It was also a very noisy hotel because there were two pubs nearby. I think at least one of them had shut down the last time I was in the area.
Although my surly hosts told me of a breakfast nook in the basement, I didn't even go and look at it.
Best thing about it is its location.
