B & R Carpet Co London Reviews

I can’t recommend B&R highly enough - I was dreading replacing the carpet in the whole of my house. They couldn’t have done a better job - professional and thoughtful, they facilitated the process at every juncture and it was a real success. I love the carpet, the cost was competitive and within my budget, and Nadia and her team were brilliant.

Stay Away! - We have also had a very negative and disappointing experience with B&R carpets. We were recommended to them and I (rather stupidly) paid up-front to redo our carpets in our flat. When the fitters came they caused such consternation in the building due to rudeness and mess that I received angry letters of complaint from one neighbour and the managing agent. When I called the manager he just flobbed me off and said no such thing happend and did not even apologise.

The next day, we discovered that the fitters had actually stained the carpet with glue or some kind of adhesive in the entrance hall and when I went to see the manager asking them to make good, again he denied everything and refused to take any action to solve the problem saying it must have been someone else! Having called and written and even approached the manager in person, they have simply refused to take responsibility and we are now forced to take legal action against them.

My advice – stay far away from these cowboys, they are unprofessional and have no sense of customer service. London is full of reputable carpet suppliers but B&R Carpets certainly is not one of them!

Fantastic Family Firm - I was compelled to write this review after reading the one from Alex M about B&R Carpet Co. Nobody ever writes or reads good reviews only the bad ones. B&R Carpet Co are a family firm with whom i have many carpets done over the years, they have been trading for over 40 years and are still primarily staffed by family members. I have come to realise that unlike carpet right or john lewis they do not rename carpets to confuse you or inflate prices to give huge inaccurate discounts but just offer honest impartial advice. The fitters i have had in my home have always been professional and polite and i have always found their products to be suberb as long as you listen to their advice, after 40 years they after all have the experience. I am not saying this company is perfect and maybe the events described in the review by Alex M are correct but i dont want that review to persuade people not to use them. I did have a problem with one of my carpets once and they dealt with it brilliantly, although i did not have to experience the third party inspector and i am sorry for Alex's outcome. i would honestly say that they are worth a go, but dont be a fool and trust two reviews, use common sense, try a few firms and listen carefully to what each one tells you, honesty and professionalism will always stand out. I would recommend B&R Carpets and i would use them again just as i have before.

Awful experience **AVOID** - We needed a new carpet for our hall and stairs and, deciding to support a local business, used B&R Carpets to recommend, and fit, a suitable carpet.

The previous carpet had lasted over twenty years, but after just 2 years, this new carpet was showing signs of wear. By 3 years, with one split already starting to appear on the stairs, things were clearly not right and so we contacted B&R Carpets. It took over six months before they would come out and look at the carpet (they are a five minute walk from us), and when they did, they agreed that the wear was not normal and that they would arrange with the wholesaler for an independent carpet assessor to look at it.

The assessor, on his inspection, quickly stated that the carpet had worn far too quickly, took photographs and a sample of the carpet for an abrasion test. He left us in no doubt that he believed it was part of a sub-standard batch from the wholesaler, which the abrasion test would confirm.

We were warned that the abrasion test could take some time to complete, especially with Christmas and New Year coming up, but when the report had still not appeared nearly 6 months later, we contacted B&R. We were stunned that it had been with them for over 3 months – but not surprising that they had not contacted us as the assessor had completely changed his tune: 1) the abrasion test, which would have proved the point, was not carried out, because the assessor stated that he had ‘not collected a sample’; 2) the extensive wear, including the split, was now described as ‘normal’; 3) no photographs were included with the report. The integrity of B&R Carpets, and the independence of the assessor were also clearly in question as the title of the report made it clear that it was B&R Carpets who had commissioned it, and not the wholesaler.

I managed to track down the ‘independent’ assessor, and it was clear from his guarded comments, and extreme reluctance to speak, that our suspicions about the independence of the report were correct, especially by his comment that he ‘no longer took work from B&R Carpets’. His assertion that he couldn’t possibly remember our individual case after six months became less certain after I pointed out that his report was dated nearly three months after his inspection.

This has been an expensive mistake, which we will not repeat, and I urge anyone to think twice before using B&R Carpets – use a retailer who believes in quality control, and customer service and who has integrity.
