Finally, an answer! - That damned question. It's been playing on my mind constantly for the last six months. Eating at me. Gnawing at me. The question that has plagued so many men living in modern western societies. I needed an answer:

It's been over half a year since I paid in excess of £30 for a haircut; am l still classed as a metrosexual?

I was beginning to have doubts. I mean, I've never waxed my chest. My bench press is getting quite respectable. Hell, I haven't worn a sarong in months.

Unfortunately though, there are no answers to questions this ridiculous, and the only way to know for sure would be to take the plunge and once again receive minimal change from two £20 notes for services rendered on my way out of a salon. So in September of 2008, I received my answer. I am indeed a metrosexual, (according to this criteria). I paid £36 for a haircut. I received the full metro treatment again.

Since my previous experience in higher priced salons, I have moved to Leeds, and so could not return to Taylor Taylor London. I had to find somewhere new, and used trusty Google to find a salon in Leeds.

My choice was a toss up between Nicky Clarke and Visal Sassoon, both located in the city centre. I liked the Nicky Clarke website better, so opted for them. I called up and, made an appointment.

The day before going, I got a text reminder, which was nice (and for me, probably necessary). The place is easy to find, on a street just off Briggate, and at three floors is much bigger than you might expect.

So were the important features in place?

Served an alcoholic drink while waiting? No! Although, non-alcoholic drinks are available (pfft!).
Semi-erotic head massage? Yes.
Attractive stylist? Well, it was a guy, so no, not from my point of view!
Price in excess of £35? Yes.

OK I admit, when I say 'semi-erotic' head massage, I'm just talking about the hair washing (sorry to get your hopes up!). The sequence of events was what you would expect, some girl washed my hair, then some dude cut it. The staff are all friendly and chatty. I was immediately happy with the outcome, which is actually rare because it usually takes a few days for me to get used to a new haircut. It was a top job, from which I received many positive comments.

Whether you require clarity on your metrosexuality, or whether you just need a good haircut, I recommend this place. 14-10-08
