Food Heaven. - A vibrant mix of food, wine and beer. If you are a lover of either of these 3, then it is well worth a visit. I myself go for the cheese.

Brill but busy - Can't really add much more but wanted to recommend the chocolate truffles from the lady in the middle of the market (the truffles are presented in polished wooden bowls) which may be expensive but damn are they worth it! I'd have paid twice the price for more once I tried them, yum yum.

As other have said, try to avoid the place on Saturday afternoon though, it's like the tube in rush hour.

Utterly Jealous - Borough Market - I hear such great things about this place; and its certainly not just hype. I went for the first time in a long while (i.e years) this weekend.

There is just so much to choose from, people below have put in a lot of recommendations, and just have a wander and enjoy whatever you find. I was passing through on Sunday just before closing and managed to get a lovely ostrich burger, chocolate brownie and some of the largest rock oysters I've ever had.

It's times like these, that I wish I was living in London!

£1 a Pound!!! - Actually that title is a little misleading; whilst at countless markets across the country this is a common shout out, I doubt you can buy a pound of anything at Borough market for £1. That said the choice of what you can buy and the quality are truly outstanding. I would highly recommend the pies from the Ginger Pig; hands down best chicken pie I've had in my entire life. At £6.00 it wasn't cheap but it was filled with delicious soft chicken and Ham in a thick creamy white sauce and after my boyfriend grumbling that I'd only bought the one there was more than enough for the two of us; in fact the pie defeated us!!

The whole market is full of fantastic produce, every person at every stall can tell you everything about what they are selling, how it was made, where it was made, the best way to eat it etc

Well worth a visit!

The cheapos cheat - I think everything's been said, but I just thought I'd add that I have taken to attending Borough market in my pikier clothes just before they pack up and asking quite blatantly for cheaper veg. They're usually okay about it. SCORE!

Beer 'n' Food in Borough - Ok, I run the Rake at the back of borough market so I thought I should have a say...
Firstly, what a fantastic place to work! Everyone is very friendly and although some of the prices on the market are a bit dear, I don't hold it against these people.
The market boasts fish stalls, butchers, cheese people, bread makers, wine shops, beer shops(utobeer!! woohoo) and much much more.
There are some really great characters around the market too, get down to lenny baxters and find him bent over his coffee machine (probably giving it some advice!) Ask Ed at Utobeer if he works there just to get his reaction as he's filling shelves(haha), Monmouth coffee, worth the wait! Ginger Pig, Mrs Kings, I could go on for hours but you'd probably get bored.
In conclusion...I work there, I love it, most of the people that work there love it, and it shows, there is a real passion for great products and produce at borough market so it you haven't been, what has your arse beein doing??!!

Fabulousness! - one of my fav things about london!!!

worked by Bank so it's a nice little stroll down here for lunch when the weather is nice...there's a really cool vegetarian stand with great rolls! tzatziki, peppers and onions and couscous! the lady there is a little all over the place and gets really stressed out when it gets busy.

trying out all the cheeses is also so much fun!

seriously, enough variety here to keep ANYONE entertained.

Don't need to bailout this market - How useful is a review if you are just repeating everything everyone else is saying. Oh well, I loved it. I can't see how anyone wouldn't love it. I had a great chorizo sandwich at the stand across from Monmouth. It was worth the 15 minute wait in line. I wish I had read the reviews out here first as I would have known to come with a bigger appetite. Everything looked amazing and I loved the atmosphere. Definitely the place to go if you are a foodie.

Fill up - Next time I go to the markets I'm not eating for a week before hand... the food is unreal!!! And they have all the great european treats...

~ BEATUFIUL bakalava
~ fabulous turkish olives (sold by one of the most amiable and knowledgeable salesman you'll ever meet)
~ swish melted cheese plates (forGET the diet)
~ proper fish and chips, bangers n mash etc
~ greek kebabs

The fresh fruit n veg is a bit rubbishpy, but you go for the french butter, foie gras, game meats, sausages and hard to find condiments (pomegranate treacle!). A foodies heaven, and a top spot to take visitors.

Love Food - Well, what else can I say that hasn't been said already?

Just in case you haven't already been convinced, Borough Market is one of the most fabulous places on earth, and had I the time, money and location right I would shop there exclusively. I'm not sure you can get better quality or variety anywhere.

The Northfield Farm stall is a carnivore's paradise (the best bacon I've ever had, hands down). All other names escape me (I get too excited looking at the food to pay attention to the actual names, unfortunately) but you'll find unbelievable breads, jams, garlic and mushrooms at my favourite stalls.

If you really can't bear crowds, take a day off and head down on a Thursday or Friday. Ideal.

Awesome - Borough Market is just awesome - apart from the food its a great place to just wander round and get rid of that hangover - my favorite bits are

Souvlaki man - such good Souvlaki - fresh lamb and great tzatziki.

Raclette man - seriously, I'm ocmpletely addicted - this is the best Raclette I've ever had.

Tomato Man - dude has like 17 different types of tomato and they all rock.

Salt man - on his table he has 4 massiv pots of salt mixed with different things - my fave is the garlic salt.

Coffee man - its actually a Monmouth coffee place but its great.

Oysters, Tea and Cake - So I come down to the market whenever I can. Favourite places to eat are, of course, Wright Bros - fantastic selection of oysters and super fresh fish. The staff are amongst the best for service I've come across in ages. Efficent and friendly, what a combo!
Shipp's Tearooms are also great, proper traditional fare in a great environment. Lastly go to Konditor and Cook for the best cakes, particularly their fairy cakes. I bought my nephew one for Halloween and he sucked it up in about 3 seconds flat. How to win the hearts and minds of the young!! So if you haven't been yet, where have you been?

Super Market - It seems almost pointless to add to the glowing reviews of this market - everyone who has been knows how amazing it is. I imagine some may not like how expensive the food is or how the market is ized by youngish people with too much money and sports utility prams, but that's the price you pay in the gourmet world. Plus it is so crowded that if you really hate those types, you at least get to throw a few free elbows. Excellent cheese, veg, seafood, baked goods, and who can possibly pass up the Brindisa chorizo sandwich - too small, perhaps, but a piece of heaven.

Great for Visitors - On a recent trip to London, my friends took me here to shop. I love to cook and I love to meet local farmers - this market is heaven. You get to pick out the perfect cut of meat and hand select every vegetable and share a lot of witty banter along the way. Best of all, was the amazing dinner my friends made for me once we returned home from the market.

Lazy Saturdays at Borough - This is one of my favorite places in London. Grab some food (fallafel works for me) , buy some food (the fish is amazing as are the brownies), finish it off with a beer next to the river. What a great way to spend a saturday (and then come home and cook it all!).

Heaven for Foodies! - A day out at the Borough Market is just heaven for real foodies! Spend the morning wandering through the endless halls of fruit, nuts, vegetables, fresh fish, meats, cheeses, spices, wines and so much more! You can either enjoy small tastings at each store or save yourself for a bigger lunch at one of your favourites! My advice is to go early, as it gets real busy! The other bit of advice would be to pick a day when you feel strong, as you are bound to go home with much more than you set out to!

One-stop-shop! - I agree with all the other Tippers that this market is probably the best in the UK.
It offers everything from cheese, wine, seafood, meat and poultry, gifts, vegetarian options, and desserts! My favourites are the salami and chocolate stalls.
This market never ceases to amaze me with the variety of things on offer and the people are always more than helpful.

I would recommend this as a great place to shop for weekly food, day outs, showing visitors, or even for taking someone there on a casual date.

Best foodie market in London - If you are a foodie whether you love to cook or love to eat, this is a must see. It's a great place to pick up the best of the best but also the obscure foods. You can get everything from Mexican chilis to rabbit to cheese (from the famous Neal's Yard). I absolutely love this place. It's like a Whole Foods but outdoors. it's only open Fri and Sat so try to go Friday morning to avoid the local and tourist rush on Saturday.

London's best market - It may be that Borough market is soley a food market, but where else in London can you find hand-picked walnuts, to London's best espresso than at Borough market. If you are a tourist here, this is the 1 market you need to visit. It does get crowded on the weekend, so the earlier you can get there the better. Also, buy your lunch there and sit near the old church just around the corner.
