Las Iguanas London Reviews

Absolutely awful in every way - Seriously one of the worst visits to a restaurant I am able to recollect, we called into this Las Iguanas after a show at the O2 without booking and got a table for 2 easily without a wait as the restaurant wasn't busy. This is where the good experience ended.

We were given the fixed price menu (this is the only one available post show) and the selection was ok. We ordered after about 10 minutes, including drinks and waited about another 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive, one of which was forgotten completely.

During the wait for our starters we witnessed the table next to us receive mains before their starters, another table receive the wrong meals and a third table complaining loudly about how ridiculously hot it was in there. Seriously it was like a furnace, really uncomfortable especially as they serve spicy mexican food!

Our starters were of a fairly poor standards, I had nachos which were clearly microwaved with what appeared to be plastic cheese and a very small portion of dipping sauces on top.

I had enchiladas for my main course and was struggling to eat by this stage due to the heat in the place. When the meal arrived it was dry and tasted processed. It was basically a bowl of black bean soup with a pile of boiled rice in the middle and one soggy enchilada across the top. There was no courtesy check from our waitress and as the waiting staff we did see were flying around avoiding eye contact with customers, we weren't able to raise our complaints without making a fuss.

We didn't manage to finish the food and although our plates were clearly still full when the waitress collected them, we were not asked if the meal was acceptable. By this stage we were so peed off that we just paid the bill and left (no service charge though, awful service) and will be making our experience known to the manager.

This chain was recently featured on Master Chef and they really brag about this in their literature, I don't know how it manages to pass for 'fine dining' in a million years.
