The White House is a fantastic combination of bar, restaurant and night club in the heart of Clapham. The music is a mix of both current and classic house faves.

The White House London Reviews

Why go here? it could be anywhere.. - i have had the misfortune of going to this flash yet naff coke hole for a few too many birthdays pre revamp and post. Lets start with the entry thing. Why make a queue when it hasn't yet got busy? Then why even bother with some strange door policy when later you actually push people in a la tokyo undergroud, being pushed up against 100s of identikit well groomed arogant upstarts (diva graduates...)is not a good evening out. The place has the atmosphere of a champneys spa, there is that much spray tanning i think they do it on the premises.

** i must say one good thing about the place - they do make good drinks (that pained me) **

I will tell you my highlight of this place, i once took a fag out an unconsious Lisa Rileys packet, she was fast asleep upstairs on a sofa, quite a sight. Though i was drunk (which cost a fortune) i can swear she was snoring too.

So white horse is a waste of time unless you are the type of person who likes the unreasonably pricey, overly loud, posing show style of a bar. So it does very good business in clapham...

18/2/08 - I had to go at the weekend for another friends party. Annoyingly I had a full drink cleaned away from the bar by the busy barstaff. The manager (new chap - David) immediately replaced my drink and pointed out to me that this is more a nighclub than my poerception of it being a bar. I still think it's rubbish, even though the staff are good and the drinks well made, they should be at the price.

Get there early if you want a seat! - I was a little disappointed when I went to join friends there for a birthday celebration. I had heard good things so was expecting a lot.

Fergus, who accompanied me swanned in as his name was on the guest list, but due to some oversight mine could not be found. The staff were polite and friendly but even though our friends were already inside, the only options I was given were to pay £12 and go in, or join the very long static queue in the rain and then pay £12 to go in, or go elsewhere. I coughed up and went in.

It was like walking into a very trendy, well-appointed sauna. There's a smallish dance floor to the left as you enter, with a dj kiosk and a bar which continues along the passageway towards the back of the room. As you push through the well-heeled, well-oiled crowd of M-TV extras, you soon encounter people coming the other way. From there it's a scrum all the way to the top of the next floor -which seemed like an L-shaped corridor with a very limited amount of seating at the beginning and a bar at the end. You keep expecting to emerge from the scrum into a room. If it did, I never got that far!

We spent the night on the dance floor as there was nowhere else to stop, and boogied until 4am. It would probably have been a lot better if they only let in half the number of people, as it had the look and feel of a central London Nightclub, not the usual cheesy sleazy suburban night-spot. I sure hope they fix the air-conditioning soon!
