With its simple yet sophisticated decor, Locanda Locatelli serves what can probably be described as Italian 'Soul Food'. Guests can sip their vodka martinis and Italian wines at the bar whilst waiting to be seated. A plethora of mouth-watering meals including authentic homebaked dishes are available - all of which have been prepared by Giorgio Locatelli himself who frequently passes through the dining area amidst the throng of diners. The atmosphere is both intimate and social depending on where you are seated. The restaurant has a Michelin star.

Locanda Locatelli London Reviews

Lovely posh Italian - I have been dying to go here but needed a client meeting to do so as I can’t afford it on my personal expense account. It was wonderful. I’ve only heard good things about it and it held up to it’s reputation of high end Italian dining.

It’s a very modern restaurant, not the classic Italian joint you would think of but more up-scale. The decor could be for any type of cuisine. The menu is divided into 4 parts: Antipasti, first course (pasta), main course (meat/fish) and dessert. You would assume at a restaurant like this you’d need to order every course b/c they usually give you tiny portions. Not so. With the recommendation of my colleagues who have eaten there before, they suggested either a antipasti or a pasta dish but not both for a starter. So that’s what I did. I had the green and yellow bean salad with fresh black truffles (£15). It was huge, light and delicious. Very simple. The grilled squid was looked great too, although a very large piece, more like the size of a main. I also had roasted Dover sole for my main over seasonal vegetables (£32). It was actually a whole fish but they kindly asked if I wanted it on or off the bone; I opted for off of course. Again, it was light, filling and very nice. My clients ordered the veal with aubergine cake and grioles mushrooms (£33) and it was a hit as well. The red onion ravioli also was a winner amongst the table. I will definitely go for a pasta dish (the gnocchi with goats cheese and black truffles was catching my eye (£20) but I was in the mood for something less filling).

We all had to rush to a meeting afterwards so we didn’t get to sample their dessert menu but they did bring us a plate of various goodies like amaretto pastry and chocolate truffles. A nice way to end the meal on a full stomach.

Service was great – attentive but not over the top; the table loved their wine selection; and we all had a merry time.
