The Old Swan London Reviews

Not Too Bad, Not Too Great - The Old Swan is a pretty average pub on Kensington Church Street. The place consists of basically one big room with a fair amount of tables and couches for drunken revelers to sprawl themselves across. Located very near the Notting Hill Gate tube station, it is an easy place to stop off at the outset or towards the end of a night out in the area, but there's not much really to distinguish the Swan from any of the better pubs nearby.

Some of the less exciting bits about our time in the Swan were the odd lack of music, the bland plate of nachos that some of my friends ordered (they used nacho cheese flavoured Doritos as a base..) and the inaccessible toilets down two flights of stairs. Although the bartenders were polite, they also seemed to be a bit absent-minded, accidentally pouring the wrong beer on the first try.

That said, they do have a decent selection of draft beers, with my preferred standby beer, Staropramen, as well as some other more interesting of the standards like Hoegarden. They also have a small selection of real ales. A spacious pub, it was not nearly as crowded as the (smaller, but far superior) Churchill Arms up the road, so it makes for a good overflow pub to there.
