The Troubadour is an authentic 1950s coffee house, established in 1954. In the 1960s and 1970s it played host to musicians such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. It now combines a cafe with a live music venue, delicatessen and first floor gallery. In a cellar beneath the cafe, The Troubadour Club hosts a range of live performances. Mondays features poetry; there's comedy every Tuesday and regular live music throughout the week, including Folk, Jazz and World music. The club is available for private parties for up to 120 people.

Troubadour Club London Reviews

Surprising - So downstairs from the Troubadour Cafe is Troubadour the club. Its nice and cavernous but not huge cavernous, more cosy wine cellar cavern.

I initially balked at the 7 quid entry fee considering the 3 bands playing were all semi-unknowns however seeing as I didn't have any cash on me my friend paid which was cool.

I was starving so ordered a bottle of wine and some calamari from the bar menu - this came to about 20 quid which I guess is fair - the calamari came promtly and were good - not too fancy but the batter was light and it was proper calamari, not just suid rings.

The sound was pretty good although the seats went pretty quickly and so you were forced to stand near the back which is annoying as people are constantly walking past heading to the toilets - the other annoying thing is that the toilets have the super industrial hand dryers that seem to drown out the sound of the band every time someone uses them.

The crowd were a mixed bunch, a lot of people that looked like they don't go to gigs very often and a whole bunch of people that felt the need to talk loudly through the quieter songs but apart from that everyone was amiable.

I'd definately go here again but I'd check who is playing as it seems a proper mixed bag - also if you're going for an full evening of dinner then down to the club then prepare to spend a few quid - it aint cheap but its probably worth it.
