As I waited for my appointment the dentist was on the phone swearing at a patient. The door was left open for the patient before me, so she had no confidentiality. When it was my turn I closed the door, but the dental nurse then opened it again, so that she could hang my coat over the top of it (there were no coathooks, but I would have preferred to leave my coat on the floor and keep the door closed). The dentist inspected my teeth without first washing his hands and without wearing gloves. I didn't trust his competence and would never go back.
