We call ourselves Amano, meaning 'by hand', because we really care about the food we serve - good, simple food and drink like sandwiches, soups, pizzas, grills, coffee, cocktails and wines made or finished 'by hand' in front of the customer.

Really, we're not trying to be clever. We're just interested in doing simple stuff better. That means using quality ingredients, made as freshly as possible and served as quickly as we can. With an extra dimension. Whether you come to sip, slurp, nibble or nosh we invite you to take your time, linger, make the most of us.

Amano Blossom Square London Reviews

Oddono's Proxy - While I have to agree with Charles's review (cool building, meh coffee), there is one very good resaon to go to Amano and it has nothing to do with their own food: they serve Oddono's gelato. Not every flavor, but enough to keep me happy. And fat. This is good and bad news: I don't have to be in South Ken for a gelato fix, but now I have to resist the temptation when I walk by. Amano is split into two buildings about 50 meters apart -- the light-wood half that is next to Tower bridge has the gelato, the dark-wood half next to City Hall doesn't seem to for some reason.

meh! - I've walked past this place a bunch and always wanted to sit and have a coffee. Its a super awesome designed building that looks straight out of some swedish architectural magazine.

Today I got my chance - the view is awesome, you get to look out over Tower Bridge and the Tower of London which is always nice - plus there's a little park with people walking their dogs.

The coffee was ok and I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon. When the food came out you could see that this wasn't awesome - the bacon was ropey and the scrambled eggs were cooked to within an inch of their life, in fact I couldn't eat half of the eggs, I think they'd turned into that stuff they put between walls to insulate them.

I wouldn't have minded so much if there hadn't been all these signs all over the place advertising the 'best ever bacon sandwich' and other signs announcing that they'd won some sandwich design award - its possible (judging from the building) that they did design and awesome looking sandwich that tasted awful, who knows, all I know is that was the worst scrambled eggs I've ever experienced - ever. Still the view is awesome and to coffee was reasonably priced so I'll probably go back.
