Food & Wine Academy
a perfect team morale event - I have done a lot of corporate morale events, from cocktail making to circus acts to chocolate making to other cooking classes and the Food & Wine Academy is the best so far. I needed something fun to do with my team of 30 so worked with Louise at the Food & Wine Academy to tailor something specifically for me. We ended up doing a wine tasting and cooking class and this is how the night went: 5:30 arrival, greeted with a glass of champagne by the head chef and MD. (BTW, these guys made the night what is was. The chef was accommodating and friendly while the MD, Harry, was a 77 year old who prides himself on his love for great wine and food. He was such a pleasure and didn’t get upset when people were talking over him and not paying attention during his wine tasting). At 6pm we were given our instructions on how the night would be laid out and then broke into teams to start cooking our wonderful meal which consisted of both sautéed and breaded oyster mushrooms over bruschetta; roasted cod with spicy pickled aubergine and roasted potatoes; and then baked blackberry and ginger pudding. For about an hour or so we all cooked with our groups. At 7 we sat down for the wine tasting. Harry took us through how to smell and taste 7 different wines, all of which were bottomless glasses and were picked to go with our meal. That got our group a lot more rowdy which made it even more fun. The meal was served around 8 and most of us left around 9:30. The next day so many of my team came to me to tell me what a great event it was and one of their favourites. So the proof is in the pudding (no pun intended).
