Okay food, rubbish service - We went to the Star and Garter for a friend's birthday party on a Sunday, and were met with a very confusing experience indeed.

Sure, the food was good, but the wait staff 'didn't know if they had salt and pepper - wait, we'll go have a look' - What? You are making an attempt at being a gastro pub and you don't even know if you have salt and pepper? Which planet are you living on?

The food was okay, but the prices were not; we ended up paying top dollar for what was essentially a mediocre-at-best Sunday roast...

I don't regret the experience, and the views of the river are rather lovely, but I probably wouldn't go back there either. 22-10-09
