Guildhall has been the City powerhouse since the twelfth century. In an era when the Lord Mayor of London rivalled the monarch for influence and prestige, this was where he and the ruling merchant class held court, fine-tuned the laws and trading regulations that helped create London’s wealth.

The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry - Dig In and Dig Deep for our Soldiers with The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry this April

Now in its 5th year, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity are asking people across the UK to join in their flagship fundraising event, The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry this April. By signing up to host a one off Big Curry themed event the UK public can help to support and raise funds for our soldiers, former soldiers and their families. This year, The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry aims to raise a massive £450,000 towards our overall fundraising target of £14M a year by 2015.

This year the Big Curry fundraiser is also supported by a host of top culinary celebrities, including Jamie Oliver, Heston Blumenthal, Antony Worrall Thompson and Anjum Anand. Our celeb chef supporters’ have also contributed some unique curry recipes to inspire all Big Curry organisers.

The Big Curry is a crucial fundraising event for The Soldiers’ Charity, who give lifetime support to serving and former soldiers and their families. The charity has seen a 30% rise over the past two years in applications from soldiers who have taken part in previous and current conflicts. The charity aims to double its fundraising to £14 million a year by 2015 to be sure that they can help each and every soldier that requests their help. If this target is to be reached the annual Big Curry fundraiser will have to more than double its participants each year.

Why Curry & The Soldiers’ Charity?
Thanks to the British Army curry is officially the nation’s favourite dish. Back in the 18th and 19th centuries 20,000 British Soldiers were stationed across the sub continent and the cooks of the East India Company developed anglicised versions of Indian dishes, and curry was born.

Taking Part
Taking part in the Big Curry couldn’t be easier – either host an event at home by cooking yourself or ordering your favourite takeaway, or take the family out to your local curry house. You could even put some samosas in your child’s lunchbox!
