authentic 'chaat' - How I love this place. I actively crave a rawa masala dosa from here at least once a month. In fact writing about it is making me want to go and have one.

If you’ve been to India, especially the South and you liked the food, then you’ll probably enjoy Woodlands – they do a good dosa.

You can get normal Indian food (rice, dahl, bhaji – as in generic term for vegetable dishes not the deep fried pakoras), but it’s the snacks (‘chaat’) that make this place special. Whenever I come here traditional dining etiquette goes out of the window and I just load up on snacks. Dahi vada, medu vada, aloo tikki and pani puri are amongst my favourites. Just to note that it is vegetarian so no tandoori chicken!

Sometimes the food isn’t up scratch which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. Even if you don’t book in advance on Friday nights/weekends you don’t have to wait that long for a table. It's a chain - I've also been to the Marylebone branch and the quality is pretty consistent. 02-10-08
