Cornerhouse Manchester Reviews

Art, film, booze, good times - The Cornerhouse has a very advantaged location in the heart of the student area of Manchester - just bordering the city centre, on Oxford Road (also Europe's busiest bus route).
It hosts a lot of indie films and productions that are not always your typical box office or commercial successes but by that I don't mean in any way rubbish.
The cafe is full at almost any hour of the day and this is not just because I go in there so often but because I can see it from the bus as well. During a three year course at Manchester Met, this was a favourite meeting place..granted you could find tables.

The cinema experience is not fantastic but then again you wouldn't ask for the ODEON experience from it either. Concessions offer very good prices for tickets for both students, elderly, unemployed, and so on and so forth and I think (not sure) at any time they are at least 50p-£1 cheaper than other cinemas.

Cornerhouse also hosts works from various artists and film festivals which you should definitely visit..for free!

The House on the Corner - During my four year stint at the University of Manchester, I spent approx. 1 of those years at the Cornerhouse (the other 3 were probably spent studying. Or drunk, but you've got to have a balance). As one of the oldest functioning buildings in the city centre, it is more than just a cinema; the Cornerhouse is a bar, a cafe, an artspace, an arena for debate, a place to get away from it all. With it's easily accessible and frequent film festivals, it's easy to wile your time away there. At one of it's yearly Spanish and Latin American Film Festival, I found myself booked to see 13 films during the week. Most of the films involved Q&A sections with the actors and directors - not something you'd find in your average Vue cinema, and a complete bargain at £4.70(Concessions; £5.70 standard) per film.
In the big screen, you'll notice some of the seats are dedicated to people who loved the cinema and loved film. Warms your heart.
GO!
