Great Drinks, Mediocre Sauce... - I would definitely go back to La Perla – but probably more for their amazing drinks menu than for the food. At least 15 different tequilas/mezcals, over ten margaritas (available in pitchers), various cocktails and Mexican beers to choose from. Their happy hour (4pm-7pm every night) looks like a great thing to hit up, as the ambiance of the place is definitely enjoyable. As for the food, while there are some great choices on the menu and I did see a lot of good things on the plates around me, I was unimpressed. I got a standard dish – the vegetarian burrito – and I figured that their choice of cheese (tasted like a mild half-melted cheddar) and sauce (tasted more like Italian tomato pasta sauce) was too far off to come from an “authentic” Mexican restaurant. Nevertheless, it wasn’t a bad meal. One dish on this colorful menu definitely can’t say it all, and with the open kitchen, good music, and friendly service I would not rule out dining here again.
