Barley Hall is a medieval building in the city centre of York that had been concealed under a rubble of derelict offices until the 1980s, when it was then excavated and a medieval townhouse was revealed. It was originally the townhouse of the Priors of Nostell but it later became inhabited by Alderman William Snawsell, goldsmith and Mayor of York. It has been restored to how it would have looked in his time towards the end of the 15th century. It is now open for tours.
