The Prince Albert London Reviews

Give Prince Albert a miss - I am pretty sure that this would rank as the worst pub in the world. And, no, of course I haven't been to every pub in the world -- I haven't even been to every country in the world.

But this place SUCKS!

Sorry about the caps. I know it's rude and I usually don't use them, but special horrors require special treatment.

Went with a friend on Friday night to this place after a particularly stressful week and day looking to unwind.

My friend sat outside while I went inside to buy the pints. The first thing that happened was that all the men stared at me when I walked in -- probably because they hadn't seen me before, I was wearing a knapsack so they thought I was a tourist and because I am a stunning beauty.

Then, I asked the bartender if one of the beers on tap was a bitter and he patronizingly said: "It's similar to a bitter."

I didn't push the point, but wtf? Is it or is it not a bitter? If not, what is it?

Went outside with the pints and my friend was embroiled in a bizarre argument with a toad-like man smoking a cigarette and sitting in my seat.

He was insisting he should be allowed to sit there because it was the smoking area! We were outside, he could have stood or sat anywhere, but no, he was insisting he sit there.

Finally he got up so I could sit down and then stood at the side of our table and refused to move the ashtray off our table.

He was revolting. I finally asked him why he had to be so rude and he looked shocked and scuttled inside. He evidently called his back up to come outside and continue harassing us. I had placed the ashtray on a little wall behind us and his sidekick placed it back on our table with a surly look.

We put the ashtray on the ground under the table.

The next time the surly sidekick came outside, he said: "Where's the ashtray?!"

We said: "Don't know."

I wanted to steal it. If it hadn't stank so much, I would have put it into my knapsack.

On the other hand, they were so obsessed with it, it's likely they would have come after me.

It was very obvious they didn't like the cut of our jib and wanted us out of there. We sat and calmly finished our drinks. We weren't going to be intimidated by complete freaks.

I am thinking of writing a letter to the innkeepers of Britain, or whatever the name of the organization is called. The Prince Albert has a plaque up proudly proclaiming itself a member.

Steer clear of this one.
