Dim Sum More Please - I was dragged here a couple of weeks ago by my Shoreditch partner-in-crime. It was cold (snowing!), dark, late on sunday afternoon and I was grumpy - but oh how quickly a mood can change.

Drunken Monkey is a wonderful space. An ex-lapdancing bar, but don't let that put you off; it is big and airy, yet remains intimate and relaxed lit by a few chinese lanterns and some tealights on the large tables. It has a good bar list incorporating a load of funky and strong cocktails. There are a few Happy Hours including the all-dayer on sundays - 2 for 1 on the cocktails.

The stars of the show in this place however have to be the range of brilliant dim sum dishes. Dim sum is definitely one of my favourite bar concepts whirling around at the moment, and I have not had better than here. The duck spring rolls and won tons are particular stand outs, and the dumplings are certainly worth picking. Service is fast and the waitresses are quick to notice you finishing or looking a bit hungry. Endless prawn crackers are free. Watch out for the dodgy lids on the sauce though, lest you get covered in the stuff (much like I did).

The music is another big plus - with live DJs most hours of the day playing different styles throughout the week. Particularly good if you fancy a bit of chilled out funk or hip hop.

I am very impressed with Drunken Monkey. It so easily could have been too much of a mish-mash of styles and themes, none of them working together, but they blend together remarkably well. The result is a classy yet not pretentious place to eat and drink throughout the week at any time of day - a rarity.
