Cheyne Walk Brasserie serves food at lunch and dinner in an inviting atmosphere. The retro decor, highly rated food and excellent service make this a popular restaurant as do the good wine and champagne lists.

Cheyne Walk Brasserie London Reviews

casually wrong - overall, nobody of our party of 8 was that bothered about the funnily bad service and mediocre food served at this restaurant because we were kind of late and they were very accommodating.
I saw that their speciality was grilled meats, being a vegetarian, I opted for their only veg dish: risotto (basic 'only veg dish' around london) it was pretty good, no bother. The mozerella pesto starter was quite good, actually.
But the meat: there was a lot of anticipation as the chef grills it right there in the center of the dining room, it gives an image of something to look forward to. When it arrived, ordered med. rare, it was served in pieces already cut up so the inside were bare and visible. They were quite fleshy, looked like they were just taken off the bones - my opinion was backed up when my foodie boyfriend said his meat was still 'blue' and needed another couple of minutes. Blue, mind you, not pink or red or whatever colour seems more natural.
the deserts were ok. fancy on the menu, nothing special on the tongue.
but the funniest part of the lunch was that service. bread took forever and the server casually poured white wine into my friends glass of rose and said nothing. I watched, somewhat amused that he was going to say nothing and asked him if that was acceptable. He laughed and brought over a fresh glass of white wine.
for the prices on the menu, i said there better not be any pretense on the bill if this is how it is...
Pretense was surely on the bill, but they did let us hang out till past 6pm without saying a thing. so... no bad feelings, but what a quirkily posh place this is. nothing matched the prices on the menu ...
