Spice Brick Lane London Reviews

Reply - Hello Elena,

Thank you for your comments. You are right that we were fairly busy the day you happened to visit, with a few birthday parties hence the uproariously drunk customers. It was a birthday party for one of our regular customers. The remainder of the restaurant was packed, but due to our service and quality of food which we pride ourselves in.

I would like to say that although we cannot please everyone we do listen to your customers and make improvements where possible. To which end I am sure you will be happy to know we have changed our brand of hand wipes to one that has a mild rose scent, and all cutlery are now from Arthur Price. The fairy lights are gone and will not be back unless it’s Xmas, which is a seasonal thing and lifts the spirits of most customers.

Kind Regards,
Management – Spice Brick Lane

Do try this at home, kids... - We ate here Friday night, and while it was packed, we couldn't quite figure out why. The ambiance seems off--strange mishmash of dishes and cutlery and furniture, lots of stuff seemingly straight from Ikea, or things a tourist might have brought back from the Indian subcontinent. Most of the other patrons seemed to be uproariously drunk, celebrating birthdays or nights out or Friday.
The waitstaff was super helpful....but that didn't quite offset the pervasive lemony antiseptic smell from the handwipes they gave everyone.
And finally, the food: it was amazing reheated the next day. Spot on. It wasn't in the restaurant, where it just seemed odd, peculiar. But perhaps I was distracted by the decor, my companion, the other loud people, the strange smells and flashing fairy lights.
With so much nice food to choose from on Brick Lane, I won't be choosing Spice Brick Lane again anytime soon...unless it's to eat the next morning, exhausted and grimy and grateful to have something to put in my stomach.
