Cyclopedia London Reviews

Rubbbish Cycle Shop - What a waste of money!
I took my bike for a basic service before storing it for winter.
Just wanted moving parts tightened and lubed - it was going to be £50 for the privilege. I'm pretty busy so decided to go for it.
Prior to service the bike was riding very smoothly, gears changing without a hitch and wheels spinning without touching brake pads etc. Only thing was a rusty rear brake cable.
On collection the bike was filthy; it not even been wiped down, and there were new greasy hand-marks on the frame. When I queried this they guy said "we don't clean the bike mate". The rusty cable hadn't been replaced, and the assistant's response was that they only change frayed cable. It looked like they hadn't done a thing to the bike, there chain grease was still dusty as before.
They wouldn't release the bike unless I paid and said that the "mechanic" who worked on my bike had gone home already so I couldn't question him. A complete rip off.
I can't say they did nothing to the bike because when I rode home, changing gears was problematic - the shifter wasn't aligning properly on front or rear derailers - and the wheels were rubbing against the brake pads.
I should also mention that they said they had to replace the inner tube on the front wheel as it had a puncture. When I said it had been fine for when I brought it in, their response was that I must have picked up a slow puncture on the way in. A complete farce. Avoid these rip off merchants like the plague.

Poor Service and workmanship - I have grown accustomed to poor levels of service, but this place takes the cake. Dropped off my bike and was told it would be ready in about a week or two. "We'll call you once we've had a look at it. Don't worry." They never called. I went back to the shop only to get a long list of "problems" they'd discovered. Asked them to fix the problems. Again, they never called to give an update after they'd promised they would. In the meantime, they shipped my bike to another shop, don't know why or for how long. Waited for them to get parts again, never got a call from them, I kept calling. At this point, we're up to 2 months. I make my third visit to the store following a number of calls. Still waiting for parts. Miraculously, they finally got the parts they'd been waiting for. They finally called and were VERY RUDE on the phone ordering me to pick up my bike that day or else... I picked up the bike, but had to bring it back the next week because of something they'd neglected to do. Needless to say, with service and workmanship this poor, I would not recommend this business under any circumstances and I will not be going back. They're not the only bike shop in town.
