Bon Bon London Reviews

Cafe Not at all Bon Bon - First time I visited this cafe I was disappointed by the food and service. Thought I’d give it another go as it’s convenient for work. I Will NEVER go back. The waitress couldn’t have been less bothered, it took 35 minutes to prepare a jaket potato with beans and cheese which arrived cold! Some friends of the people working brought their dog with them which was allowed behind the counter and in the kitchen whilst the waitress petted it and let it lick her hands. I could not be more disgusted but this did not seems like somewhere where customer comments would be taken well or listened to so I left.

great coffee bar - This popular independent cafe has undergone a recent refurbishment that has seen the introduction of chery red leather sofas, blue velvet seats and brightly painted walls alongside a spretentious new licensed bar. the addition of alcohol to the menu will not doubt prove a popular move, but it is as a breakfast destination that this venue really shines.
on a recent brunchtime visit my burly male companion was overjoyed to discover not just on full vegetarian breakfast option, but several, from the spinach, mushrooms and sweet chilli dish. In the end,he opted for a huge sizzling pile of buttermilknpancakes oozing with maple syrup, but he could equally have chosen from the wide selection of beautifully cooked scrambled or poached eggs with a variety of toppings that included smoked salmon, maple cured bacon, benedict, royal or florentine.
my more health conscious female companion enjoyed a generous helping of organic muesli-bio yoghurt, fresh fruit, nuts and honey whilst I caved in to temptation and savoured a sinfully buttered and fluffily light croissant. Around us children were enjoying the kids-only dishes when not playing with the provided toys while mums and dads relaxed at the pavement tables with the free newspapers. The perfect venue for a weekend breakfast treat.

Avoid this place - At 7.30am on Weds July 16th I called in to Bon Bon to pick up an early morning coffee. The woman working there was moving chairs etc. I asked her if the shop was open, to which I got a barely audible reply (which I took to mean yes, but go away!)

The woman (sth American or mediterranen) had served me before and given me attitude, but I always gave her the benefit of the doubt.

I ordered one coffee and a couple of cookies (she didn't understand the word couple, and presented me with one cookie). First mistake!

Then she mumbled the price, which I misheard as £3.95. Mistake number two! I should have expected one coffee and two biscuits to be £4.95, and I should not have been surprised (or shown any surprise on my face!)

What I got was her scowling face and distain. Of course, I confronted her and called her rude (which she denied-stating that she was just telling me the price, and that of course the cookies were £1.80 each!).

Well, if I am going to be charged that amount for something so small, and obviously not homemade, I want to see a smiling face and not be treated with contempt.

So Bon Bon, I will NEVER user your cafe/restaurant again. I work in the area, so I will tell all my customers that live in the area exactly what to expect and hopefully word will get round and you will go out of business. The customer is king (or queen). There are lots of other places offering tastier food, so I will survive without you and your surly staff.

My advice is to avoid the place. It's not worth even the experience.

Dreadful food, dreadful attitude - We went to this place for lunch today. It looked a bit austere and unwelcoming but my daughter was keen due to the burgers on the menu. I ordered leek and potato soup, she a cheeseburger. The soup was dark green and had clearly come out of an industrial catering packet (I used to work in kitchens so recognised the taste) but when I complained the chef denied this, although there was clearly no potato or leek in it, just a lot of nasty dried things and thickenings. The cheeseburger also turned out to be a nice burger that someone had ruined with squirty cheese. When we complained the waiting staff did nothing to offer a replacement or even take away the disgusting soup. We had to demand a refund which was forthcoming very grudgingly. Lousy food, lousy waiting staff and a lousy experience altogether. We then had a much nicer meal at the oriental restaurant next door. If you are in the area and hungry at lunchtime, I would recommend Evo instead of this dive.
