A Winter's Gelato Tale - Yum. I can't wait for warm weather so I can truly enjoy the greatness of Oddono gelato. I'm sure they can't wait for warm weather too: keeping a gelato store up and running during the London winter would no doubt try anyone's patience. Although, I guess I wasn't alone in eating there today, so maybe they know something I don't.

Since some friends and a strange often yelling person named Gordon Ramsay recommended Oddono's gelato, I've been dying to try it. I've passed by for months without giving in to temptation - eating gelato alone seems a wee bit indulgent most days - but I finally caved. I got two of my benchmark flavours, dark chocolate and pistachio. I think if a place can do those two (and vanilla) well, they know what they're doing. I've clearly given this matter a bit too much thought. Anyhow, both were amazingly rich, very silky smooth, and essentially perfect. I wolfed them down shamelessly, despite the grey weather.

In a perfect world, one would hope to be able to get two flavors in a small cup instead of having to get a medium (minor quibble), and maybe a few more unusual flavours to pick from would be nice too. But whatever, this is some delicious gelato, even in the middle of winter.
