Surprised by posh nosh in Tooting - Went to Rick's for a friends birthday. The cafe is tiny, maybe 30 diners squeezed in max. Obviously very popular locally as people were constantly coming through the door (which I was jammed next to and felt chilled everytime the door opened).
The atmosphere was really casual so I was surprised to see quite a 'fancy' menu - oysters, chicken pate, squid and chorizo for starters, even lobster tail on the list of mains. I went for the pate to start (decent) and lobster tail for main which was disappointing. The lobster had obviously been cooked before and was simply reheated. Also chips on the side were soggy. So the food was a little hit and miss, and not exactly cheap, but some meals in our group were quite good and it is definitely the best place on Mitcham road.
