Tamarind is a chicly decorated Indian restaurant, with a glass fronted kitchen where you can see all the food preparation and Tandoori cooking taking place. The regional lean to the cuisine is North-Western Kashmir, but they change the menus with the seasons. The restaurant is roomy, so is good for business and popular with the celebrity set. Catering for private parties of up to 80 guests is available upon request. It is one of the first Michelin starred Indian restaurants.

thank goodness I Wasn't Paying - I don't normally like to review a place after only one visit (unless it was truly awful). However, I can confidently say that I will never be able to return to Tamarind unless I hit the jackpot at the races sometime soon. It wasn't the most expensive restaurant I've ever eaten at, but £20 for a small dish of curry made my jaw drop. Luckily it was phenomenally delicious, but for £20 I want edible gold leaf and a back rub, certainly something more than curry. Everything was great - the service was very attentive, the decor was modern and interesting, and they took us without a reservation and not even nicely dressed. Definitely a special occasion restaurant, or, like me, for when you're eating on someone else's expense account. 12-10-07

Excellent, recommended - I went here with the mrs on a very wet Sunday early afternoon. Via lastminute.com I'd managed to secure us a two, count 'em - two, for the price of one deal on the chef's taster menu. The food is absolutely immense, the wine's more than decent and you feel so full you require a cab home. Good thing you saved on the meal itself... 30-08-07
