Wagamama London Reviews

Noodles by numbers. - I feel somewhat uncharitable for giving this review but truth is after six years of serving the same, albeit delicious, food.

Most of the time when I go here I order up the Chicken Katsu because it is so damn good. The curry sauce reminds me of the stuff they serve at chinese chippy's in Bolton where my dad lives (that's a good thing, ok) and the chicken cutlet is moist and crispy and never fails to disappoint.

The problem is that the menu has not changed for as long as I've been coming here and is suffering as a result. My palette is so trained to the flavours that the memory is fading fast and being replaced by more recent, less impressive ones. Even at McDonald's they change the menu to keep things fresh, don't fancy a Big Mac then try the Texas Double Cheeseburger or some such concoction. Not at Waga's.

I'm sure that the menu here has changed from time to time but with a significant lack of fanfare it is conceivable that we have all missed it.

I recently broke from convention and received a plate of the Chili Chicken Men with the other staple, a side of Duck Gyoza. The spicy chili sauce was not very and the vegetables that accompanied it and the rather sad portion of meat tasted bland and one dimensional. Back to Katsu for me next time.

So maybe that is it, Waga's doesn't promote moving off menu. Find what you like and then stick to what you know. A winning formula!
