KOKO London Reviews

A stunning venue. - I would give KOKO full marks if it wasn't for how expensive everything is. I went to see The Dandy Warhols here a few months ago, and though the venue is beautiful, there's a very nice smoking balcony and the acoustics are great - the drinks cost you an arm and a leg. I seem to remember buying a can of Kronenberg for nearly £4. To me, that is insanity and totally uncalled for. Do they really need to charge that much to make a profit from these nights? I doubt it.

Indie rock music venue - I love going to KOKO and maybe it’s because every time I’ve been, I’ve seen really good bands. But the venue itself also makes the experience because it’s old school with high ceilings, a stage, balconies, etc, on what was once a proper theatre. You just get a good feeling when you’re in there. The acoustics are pretty good too and for the most part, you can see the stage from every place. The bars are always packed but at least there are a couple of them so the wait to get a drink isn’t too long. Seeing a good band in a small venue is ideal; I can’t do the big stadiums anymore and find these venues much more enjoyable and memorable.
