Dans Le Noir is a restaurant where guests dine in the dark. Following on from the success of its branch in Paris, the restaurant has opened a branch in London. Guests choose from the menu in the (lit) bar area, before being lead into the pitched black restaurant. Reviews of the food have been mixed.

Go for the experience not food - I will echo the other reviewers about this place - in terms of sheer novelty factor , it's really quite awesome as one needs to reorientate to adjust to the changes.

The dining room is completely pitch black and as I sat down, it's as though Ive entered another world altogether.

I could hear my friends’ voice sort of coming from in front of me. Never really noticed she had such a enticing, smouldering voice. At some point, our waiter started telling us where the cutlery was and he tells us ( alot of talking involved ) that he has placed a bottle of water in front of me. I reach out and start feeling for a bottle.

As my hand runs across the table, I start feeling edges, the creaks, the stuff on it and the wood. I begin to imagine what the decor would look like, I notice the creaking floorboards, so I can only assume the wooden floors as well. My perception of the space starts to take on a life of its own as my imagination starts going wild. All the subtle background noises, like tapping shoes, clicking heels, the chatter suddenly become part of the decor and in my mind, that information kind of helped to build an image of the space, almost abit like the way you build up a scene in your head while you are reading a book.

Not to mention you'd have to stick your thumb in the glass to measure how much you want to drink.

Food is so so - go for the cheaper £32 2 course option, but for the experience definitely must try.

Food suitable for a guide dog - While the dining experience at Dans le Noir was incomparable and quite interesting, the caliber of the food left much to be desired. The server was very nice and helpful, and do not be led astray: it is absolutely pitch black in there and your eyes will not adjust.

But once you get the hang of cutting your food and pouring your wine, the lackluster caliber of the food begins to set in. An interesting one-time experience, but I certainly don't see myself going back. I would definitely order the Surprise dishes, because it is somewhat entertaining to guess what you're eating, although it says a lot when you can't actually tell what you're eating because it's so bland....

Recommended for a blind date! - The most exciting and hilarious eating experience! The food is delicious, served by blind waitron. Who knows about the decor, you eat in the pitch black! Don't wear your best clothes, you'll end up eating the gourmet food with your hands. Be brave and opt for a "surprise" menu, you won't be disappointed.
