Cay Tre London Reviews

Greeat food - I went here last night with some friends from all over. We ordered a load of spring rolls and the beef salad to start. The salad was spicy but beautiful none the less.

I had duck for my main which was tasty although a little on the small side i felt. However many of the other meals seemed to have much larger plates especially the soups which are very good im told.

My only issue was that i felt the service was a little cold and the atmosphere could have been nicer but for a good meal before heading out with friends this was an good choice.

GREAT Spring rolls - I went to lunch here with Charles from Tipped, it's this amazing review site, not sure if you've heard of it.

Charles had been here plenty of times before and recommended the summer rolls - delicious. As were the spring rolls, I have never had any so deliciously crispy.

I went for the roast duck (delicious) but got total food envy when I saw the pork belly that Charles had ordered.

The portions here are very ample, too. One rice between three of us was completely adequate. I will be back here if I can fight through the evening meal queues!

rockin vietnamese specialities - went last night with some friends who had all been countless times. they've recently done it up with psychedelic saigon inspired wallpaper and coloured lights.

basically decided to order a mountain of food and share. recommend the quail curry. utterly lush.

also the wicked cripsy frog legs, summer rolls with king prawns, swimming crab and roast pork belly were amazing. hell even the plain noodles were tasty.

with quick friendly service and decent prices, couldn't recommend it more for a meal out with mates.

Crave-worthy - One of my favorite "everday" restaurants in the city. (And I could go almost everyday). The decor isn't fancy, the service is nothing to write home about but the food is straight up yummy. There tends to be up to a 20 minute wait on the weekend but you can nip across the street for a beer and they'll call your mobile.
I recommend the beef wrapped in rice paper for a starter. They bring a cooker to your table and you get to cook your own meat, add noodles and other goodies and wrap your own. Food and a project- fun for all. I also love the Campfire Sirloin Steak and La Vong Grilled Fish(which is also cooked at your table. Fire at the table, I tend to be a fan).
Also great for take-out.

Great Won Ton - When it comes to Vietnamese most people head straight for Kingsland Road and few people will agree on their favorite.

To me however the best Vietnamese is actually situated round the corner on Old St.

Like its Kingsland Road counterparts its decor is unassuming and functional. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt.

The menu is pretty standard but I will say I've eaten at pretty much all of the Vietnamese in this area and at Cay Tre they have the best Won Tons and Summer (fresh) Rolls out of the lot.

Quick. Cheap. Good.
