Apollo Cinema London Reviews

Nice to go sometimes - It is nice sometimes to go to a famous cinema and sit where all the celebrities sit :)
The seats are comfortable and the sound system is great but the popcorn and other snacks are ridiculously expensive!!

Apollo - the greek god of cinemas - I had almost forgotten about the Apollo Cinemas.... recently I've been visiting The EveryMan and Electric Cinema for my movie plus glass of wine experience. However these days since 'money's too tight to mention' I've been hunting out where I can use my Orange 2-4-1 deal on Wednesdays and was pleased to see the Apollo Cinema appear on the list.

Ok so they don't have side-tables or foot-stools but you still get really large spacious chairs and wine/beer etc in posh plastic which you can take into the cinema. The screens are big vs. the number of seats and have a good rake - so even short people like me get a great view.

And for £13 for 2 tix on a Wed it is great value (well at least if you have an Orange phone). I'll continue working through my Oscars list at The Apollo!

Blissful Zzzzzzz... - Attention all nocturnal insomniacs (Hey pal!) and siesta skivers, the answer to your prayers is found here. This has gotta be the most comfy cinema in the whole of London, it's clean and civilised and best of all, no popcorn chucking yobs around. Chlo b. is right about those beds, oh sorry seats (honest to Him up there, these seats are for nothing but slumbering)! Follow this simple plan- have a heavy lunch (all carbed-up preferably), call in sick at the office and get yourself down to the Apollo. For the latter don't even think of an all action flick, but something along the lines of Brokeback Mountain (sorry fans, I found it to be all too sleep inducing) is ideal. This will be the best ever nap you'll have for £15.00.

BTW, for stating the bleeding obvious, snorers need not apply.

Gad Zeus - This is almost the best cinema in central london. The best cinema in london is the Curzon Soho, but what the Apollo doesn't have in fancy bakery produce and arthouse films it makes up for in BIG SEATS. I mean really they are HUGE. You sink into them and can curl up in them, or stretch out your legs without fear of kicking the person in front. If there was a person in front. The other great thing about this cinema is it is always empty, no kids throwing popcorn, no old ladies talking over the opening credits just me and my pic and mix. They even serve alcohol, so you can sit down and enjoy a movie with a glass (bottle) of wine. I can hear what you're thinking...this kind of luxury doesn't come cheap...and no it isn't cheap, but going to the cinema in the west end is notoriously expensive. Just to compare a ticket here is only 50p more expensive than the slightly shabbier Curzon and is £1 less expensive than the infinitely more unpleasant Vue west end. The downside is that sometimes they show absolute rubbish! Oh well, I'll just have to wait until they have something good on for my next visit - What Happened in Vegas doesn't count!
