How to destroy a pub - What has happened to this pub in the last couple of years as used to be so friendly, was such a joy going there. I think the word required for what it's like now are 'Gone down the pan'.

No wonder pubs are closing these days, ban smoking in part, cheap supermarket booze for the alcoholics but the biggest one of which May Duncans is a prime example is poor management.

When Julie was there it was fantastic, the current 'manager' for want of a better word needs to go on a few courses to improve his lacking management/customer skills or he may have been on one which is called 'How to alienate customer and make them leave your pub in droves'.

Faults.......
Ignores emails for booking overnight stays
Gloats when Everton do not win football games and makes sure everyone hears him (does he not know that a very quick way to lose customers). Not an Everton fan but I did see at least 5 customers leave after that comment.
Serves meals but can't serve a cup of coffee (probably couldn't be bothered).
Seems to begrudge serving, let his wife/partner do it. Just seems to be a general laziness.

Would I go back to the pub, not while he is there, bring back Julie before the place is run into the ground

The Truth!! - May Duncans has never cancelled a party i know this because i worked there when that happened it was a jealous and greaved employee that cancelled your party... May duncans is and will always be the best pub in the area we all love you Rob and Joan

DISGRACEFUL TO BE TREATED THIS WAY - I disagree with the ladys reveiw due to a holiday maker,try being a local drank in there for 6yrs even take my dad in his wheelchar for an afternoon weekly,until recently two lovely girls run it must say jackie was a lovely girl treated everyone like her family no matter who you were customer or staff sad she was pushed out of the place the place will never be the same without her good luck were ever you are girl.Well as i said i disagree...well i booked a party bout 4wks ago and i was very shocked to receive a telephone call 2days before my daughters 18th birthday to say it was cancelled by joan the new manager wot a disgrace for the football before hand that was never a problem to the girls we had both tv& music at important games,but last week the party wasnt cancelled for the football was it....NO

May Duncans - Stayed over 2 nights in Liverpool for the Mowtown show at the Echo Arena. Lovely place, all the staff so very friendly! Nothing too much trouble, very helpful. Rooms nice & clean, always important!
The lady who does the breakfast was lovely in particular, a lovely meal 2 days on the trot!
Thanks all & hope to see you when we're next round your neck of the woods!! :)
