Deliverance London Reviews

Cold food, bad service - I haven't used Deliverance for years and made the big mistake of revisiting yesterday - big big mistake.

The food that arrived was tepid at best, cold at worst. Only half of the meal arrived, the other half about 30 minutes later when presumably the driver realised that there was still a box in the bike. Customer Services then offered me £10 off a future meal, which I told them where they could stick. The best bit, some of the meal was passed its sell by date - lovely !

This prompted me to check their Scores on the Doors rating given the hype around them - the rating speaks for itself...

Food Safety score for:

Ugh, just ugh - Over an hour late, two hours after placing our order, and stone cold.

Absolutely appalling, I will not be using this service again.

Second chance - OK, so I reviewed them a while ago and generally moaned.

So I thought, time has moved on, everyone deserves a second chance (plus it was raining and late and all the shops were shut).

We ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad and a Tuna Nicoise as we felt like being a bit healthy. Both salads came in a long cardboard box and the portions were generous.

Delivery time: 70 minutes

Caesar Salad - chicken quite dry, sauce looked and tasted like something that came out of a sachet, croutons were literally stale chunks of bread.

Tuna Nicoise - by contrast, really nice. Proper fresh Tuna not over-cooked, with what felt-like a dressing that had been made from scratch.

So - all in all, took too long to arrive (again) and one of the salads was disappointing. It's really annoying that someone hasn't come in and copied their concept (which is totally brilliant), but managed to actually deliver on what they promise. For the price they charge, they should be better.

I like the concept so much that I will probably use them again, but only when I've got over an hour to spare and be prepared to take a punt on whether I get a good or bad dish.

actually alright - You ever have one of those days where you wake up and you're like, I am so not setting foot outside today? Whether its the weather or a hangover I think we all have them but then you get downstairs and realise all you've got to eat is some tins of mackerel and an egg - ugh! This is the only situation I've used Deliverence but to be honest I've always really enjoyed the food - I always order too much and its not cheap but its gotta be better than Dominos. I usually get the won ton soup, prawn toast and some rice thing which is all passable.

I love Deliverance. - I think it's great. The food is really tasty, their staff are very down-to-earth and the menu is extraordinary. They sometimes fall down on late deliveries, but they always call and let you know, and their customer service is superb if you call in to complain.

Let's overspend on Deliverance agai - Ok I admit I order Deliverance more than I should, mainly cause my wife and I don’t always (usually) agree on what we want; and I guess I’m a bit lazy, especially when it’s snowing on Easter.

Anyway I actually think the food is pretty good. I often get the Spicy Roasted Salmon Salad (£8.5) with giant couscous with peas, lentils, chickpeas, cranberries, etc. with a harissa dressing, very very tasty. I also like the Matsaman Chicken Curry (£8.00) with sweet potatoes, cashews and green peppercorns (a nice touch). I order a side of basmati brown rice from somewhere else on the menu for a staggering £3.5. The only other thing I’ve had is the Chicken Tagine (£8.00), which is really good, but they don’t sell couscous which is odd and annoying.

So while the food is tasty, it’s rather poor value for money, the portions are small and as you can see it’s pretty damn expensive. Then there is the issue of ~1 hour wait, and the high likelihood that your hot food will in fact be cold. It all adds up to a good experience, but not excellent.

Bland - microwave meals. - Service good. Call centre and internet ordering good, delivery time good.

But it's about the food! Tonight I ordered Thai;

Soggy Chicken Pad Thai - Terrible! - Some sort of red tomato sauce was mixed in?? Tad Thai should be dry and light which if it was cooked fresh it might be. Deliverance must spoon out of an aging soggy vat.
Matsaman Chicken Curry - Very average bland offering.
Rice.

Essentialy it's just sealed microwave containers of bland food microwaved and sent to you. You could get frozen microwave meals with more freshness and taste.

Previously I have ordered their beef burger which was OK, nothing special very little salad and a chicken skewer starter which was bland and oily.

After that I ordered pizza this was OK about the quality of Pizza Express with a heavier base.

So now having given them three chances, each time with different dishes I will now no matter how tired or lazy I'm feeling after work make the effort to walk to the local Kebab shop, GBK, Thai, or just call in a typical east end Bangladeshi curry which will be more satisfying.

Gone off the boil? - I have used Deliverance for years and was always really pleased with the service and the food.

I just wonder if they've gotten too big and not invested to deal with the demand. The last few times I've ordered from them it's taken ages for the food to arrive. Last night it was 1.5 hours and when it arrived we had to send it back because it was undercooked.

I like Deliverance - I mean, they are friendly and have a great concept.. but I just think a flashy menu and nice ingredients are let down by clearly not having enough people to get the food out and delivered in an acceptable time.

One stop shop for couch potatoes - Deliverance has been a staple in our household since we discovered it several years ago. Getting a wide variety hearty meals for less than £8 delivered to your door in less than 45 minutes is the way to go when you're too lazy to cook and don't want to go out.

They serve most cuisines from British, European, Italian (pizza), Japanese (sushi), Indian and Thai. And they also have tapas plates in addition to the starters they offer. Our favourites are the Moroccan Chicken Tagine and the roasted salmon superfood salad.

On top of that, you can order wine, beer, pints of ice cream and desserts.

It's a one stop shop for couch potatoes.

For those who cannot agree - I am picky about what i eat, and often, one takeaway menu is just not enough choice. Imagine when i have friends over?
Deliverance offers a menu that features all in one, japanese, italian, indian and other menus. Don't confuse it for one of those pizza delivery places that would also bring you stir-fry.
This guys are good. The menu is beautifully designed, and looks more like a coffee table book than a takeaway menu. Features good explanations of what ingredients are used in preparations and good pics too :)

Food is quite good, but maybe i am one of those people who always orders the stuff that everyone else want after the fact.
