Wagamama Norwich Reviews

YummyMamma - I myself work in a chain restaurant-not dissimilar to the Wagamama on Chapelfield Plain in Norwich. Because of this I find that I appreciate the service a lot more than a regular customer, knowing just how hard it is to handle a forming queue at the door, simultaneous order takings and food running. That being said I don't sympathize with floor staff who do little work in a quiet period. However this need not apply to Wagamama where I found the service to be mostly excellent.

As me and my friend arrived we were seated immediately by a polite member of the floor staff who immediately gave us our menus and offered drinks. When we declined in order to examine the menu he happily gave us a few minutes and offers of any help if we should require it, as well as informing us that food is brought out as soon as it is ready to ensure freshness.

When we had decided he was back almost instantly and then instantly again with our drinks. As we were then ready to order, he went through what we wanted and asked us whether we'd desire any side orders to complement our meals, which we accepted graciously; ordering some chicken skewers.

He wrote on place-mats (also containing the dessert list-a handy feature) our order numbers and offered second drinks. This is what I really like about Wagamama; the staff are friendly, comfortable and not at all rigid. They all appear to be having a good time, and as a customer you can really feel and enjoy the atmosphere.

The 2 meals and side order all came within 3 minutes of each other, which was fine, and the food was excellent. I had the Ginger Chicken Udon noodles dishes which was really flavorsome and was made with a great deal of flair.

We were checked back on 1/2 way through the meal, which shows the staff are concerned are how you are finding it.

After we cleared we were given 5 minutes (as asked for by us) to browse the dessert menu from which I choose the cheesecake and my friend the choc-fudge cake. The desserts were made quickly and to a very high standard. Both look amazing and the Cheesecake was especially delicious.

We then asked for the bill which was brought over promptly and our payment was taken then and there too.

Overall I found our experience at Wagamama to be truly excellent. The staff all worked together professionally but in a relaxed way so the atmosphere felt really laid-back. I would most definitely recommend it to the majority of people I know who like dining out though I can understand that some people do not enjoy the communal/cafeteria style seating arrangement.
