Elbows Cafe London Reviews

Felt just like getting elbowed - I don't normally like to write bad reviews, but I think I'll find a certain catharsis in writing this.

The exterior and decor of this cafe is set to make you think you're going to eat some yummy organic (possibly vegetarian) cafe dishes, freshly prepared at some considerable nouveau bourgoisie cost.

However upon being seated at the table and given a menu consisting of 7 options total (scrambled eggs with ham or vegetable, sandwich with ham or cheese, croissant with ham or vegetable, pastry) it starts to look really bleak. But maybe, just maybe this is one of those places that does those 7 dishes *amazingly*?

Well it was some time before I could find out, because the waitstaff ignored me. I finally managed to order some tea. Fifteen minutes later I was given some hot water with milk in and a tea bag on the side. In what world would you serve the tea bag on the side? Milk on the side, okay. Bag and milk on the side, possibly. Not hot milky water with a tea bag on the side though; it defies logical thinking!

While waiting for the waitress to come back and take my order (which never happened, I had to shout out to her three times before she'd make a return journey), I looked to the wall on my left which looked disturbingly moist and furry. This is because I was sitting next to a giant patch of furry green and white mold. Right by my head. When I brought this to the waitresses attention she laughed and said "that's our plant" Ha. Ha. Ha.

I ordered a ham and cheese croissant expecting an *amazing* dish because as I said, there are only 7 things on the menu. What I got was a cold croissant with processed slices of ham and some shreds of cheese. While the whole dish was cold and had not been toasted... my plate had! It burned me, yet the sandwich was freezing and the cheese was in no way melted. I also got... salad! Because what you want with you breakfast dish at 9:30 on a Sunday morning is soggy salad on a very hot plate.

I couldn't eat the meal after a couple bites because the ham reminded me of the cafeteria in 4th grade. Then I had a good twenty minutes of waiting before I could persuade old 'no ears' to give me the bill. And of course she looked at my card in distain saying 'cash only' when there is a visa, maestro and switch logo on the window of their front door.

From now on I am going to recommend this place fervantly to my enemies as it was probably one of the most horrific dining experiences I've ever had.
