The Hayward Gallery was opened in 1968 playing a vital role in the visual arts. They are responsible for National Touring Exhibitions (NTE) and the Arts Council Collection (ACC), which it manages on behalf of the Arts Council of England. The Gallery's programme offers a contemporary perspective on art from the present and the past. There is a programme of educational activities with every exhibition.

Andy Warhol:Other Voices,Other Room - The Adny Warhol exhibiton at the Southbank Centre is as provocative and colourful as one would expect. Upon entry you are met by his famous tributes to pop culture: Marilyn Monroe, Campbell's Soup can's, the Brillo boxes. The layout of the exhibition is complete organised chaos, with rows and rows of film, paintings, collage etc etc. Shockingly, it creates a sense of understanding (or at least realisation), of the true madness yet brilliance going through Warhol's mind. There is an array of mixed media, combined with very personal passport photos of Warhol and his closest friends/muses. Looking past the neon cows and addictive still footage of his 'projects' you find yourself in amongst 40 odd tv screens playing videos found in Warhol's 'Time Capsule' collections. With concentrated hearing one can gain a further insight into the confusing, albeit exhilerating, life of one of the most alluring and mesmerising artists of the 20th Century. On until 18th Janurary 2008.
