Le Mercury London Reviews

You'd struggle to eat in for less! - No really! If you want to eat lovely homecooked food at a great price, this is your place. You'll need to book if you want to go on a Friday or Saturday as it's popular. In the week it generally seems fine to rock up and grab a table at any time.

The food is simple and tasty and you won't be dissapointed - I've been here many times with friends and am yet to hear a bad word about it. I can't comment about the veggie dishes i'm afraid, but the meat and fish dishes are superb. You also get complimentary bread which is always a nice touch when waiting for your food.

If you haven't been then you must - it's a real gem.

Lovely atmosphere and great value - Le Mercury is a French restaurant in bustling Angel and an ideal place to go for really delicious food on a budget.

The restaurant is quite small and candle-lit in the evenings, giving it a really cosy atmosphere. If this sounds too romantic then don't be put off - it's also perfect for dinner with friends and singletons won't be sneered at!

Though the atmosphere is lovely, the food (for me) take's centre-stage. All starters and desserts are priced at £4, all mains at £8 and all sides at £3. The menu is fairly limited (and included french fries, bizarrely) but everything I ate was delicious - the sauce on the roast chicken breast was the highlight of my evening. A close second was the Baileys ice-cream and chocolate truffle dessert (it's every bit as delicious as it sounds). I'm afraid I can't comment on the wine as I didn't drink any.

Service was decent enough, if a little brisk at times (even when the restaurant wasn't very busy).

I'd certainly recommend Le Mercury for anytime you're in Angel and want to avoid the hundreds of chains speckling the High Street. It's excellent value, serves delicious food and has a lovely atmosphere.

Well worth a visit - I have been twice now and I gather that they have 2 sittings one at 7pm and one an 9pm...however if you get in say around 5ish there is always plenty of room so you can get seated.
Good French cuisine at a good Credit Crunch Price...from memory for myself and partner it was with a bottle of wine and bottle of water and 3 courses was around £46.....done deal.
Typical menu is Mussels, Foie Gras, etc etc for starters and for main, Rib-eye Steak, Confit Duck Leg and Roast Chicken Breast and Pork Belly...this is lovely..YUM YUM....give it a go and if you dont enjoy it call me a FLAP JACK....and at £45ish you really cannot go wrong for 2 people...

Cheers
