Three Blind Mice London Reviews

Nice, Quiet, Small - I was expecting a real challenge finding the place based on other reviews. Far from it, there was a board out on the street advertising the place!
Still, I may share the feeling that I would prefer that this nice little place not get too popular, as it would both spoil the ambience and simply create more of a crowd than the bar could handle.
The place is tiny, presumably a converted basement that is reached down a steep staircase from the street. Once down there, you enter into the main bar room, which is big enough for probably 20 people shoulder to shoulder. There is also an attached room with some seating, but it's not all that much bigger.
Still, the size didn't turn out to be a problem to me, and the friendly service of the bartenders as well as the good company that I met there left me with a pleasant feeling for the place.
The main issue to me is the lack of beer on tap, which is sort of a pet peeve of mine, but in a place like this I suppose that might be too much to expect. Apparently they periodically squeeze a small (presumably acoustic?) band into the space for live music - I'd be interested to see how that works!

Not for robots... - The best thing about this place is the treasure hunt you have to go on to find it. We are brought up in a 'magic pill' society: got a headache? Take the pill. Want a six pack? Take the pill. Trouble maintaining an erection? Yep, there's a pill for that too. But the things in life really worth having are the things you have to put a little bit of effort into to get, which is a lot like Three Blind Mice; not only because it's a great place, but because the people in there must necessarily be the type that know this, and thus are superior people in general.

Of course, this does not include YOU, as you merely read a review about it on the internet. But, to make you feel a little bit better, I won't give any detailed directions and you'll have to use a map (lol) or ask around (good luck!).

While I was in there, my friend Will told me he needed a boost of some kind. My response was rather effective, and you might wish to do something similar should a friend of yours needs a little pick me up. As I no longer drink, I have been forced to train myself to enter a silly social state on demand. I have not mastered this yet but I'm getting better. Here is my current MO: initiate a 'pirate' conversation. It's very simple, you just talk like a pirate and end almost every word with "AARRRR", whether it actually ends in this sound or not. If this does not work, move on to stage two: Pattycake. We did this, and not surprisingly began to generate a gravitational pull...people hovered around us. Another friend, Aurora, joined us, and we began a three way pattycake. I could see people around looking at us like "oh my goodness! Are they ACTUALLY doing a three way pattycake?? Wow!"

While it's only a little place, you couldn't get the same cosy atmosphere in a bigger place. The prices are normal, the music was this nice non-commercial soul/funk stuff. There's nice interesting things on the walls. Good atmosphere and good people inside. Also it was free to get in on a Saturday, which was great. Closed at 12. Highly recommended...but if you've ever bought an "Ab Pump 2000" and actually thought it would work, or taken Xenadrine but never exercised, then don't go here as you'll just pollute the place, you good for nothing magic pill consumer.
