Whole Foods Market London Reviews

Worth the Wait? - Having become familiar with Whole Foods in the States, I knew more than a few Londoners who were waiting impatiently for the upscale food retailer to set up shop here. It took them a while, but I'd say that on the balance it was worth it.
Surely you need to know that Whole Foods is not your corner CostCutter. This is a luxury food shop, no doubt. I've heard plenty of people complain about the prices, but I think that's kind of a distraction from the value that Whole Foods can provide. It's all about targeted shopping - don't make this your main shop unless you're made of money.
Downstairs there is the main shopping area, with fresh produce, packaged goods and a variety of specialty stuff, including a pretty classy selection of imported beers. The Ground Floor is all about the impulse buys and daily offerings like fresh bread and pastries, as well as their pretty awesome cheese monger and a satisfactory selection of wines.
Upstairs is the interesting one for me. It's a bit of a departure from the usual Whole Foods experience in the states, which, although it does often include food counters, is much more comprehensive and lavish. All kinds of foods, from mezze platters to sushi to sandwiches, can be collected up here and there are a bunch of tables to enjoy your food. Also, a somewhat overlooked room near the staircase provides a comfy, quiet(ish) place to have a sit, drink some coffee or tea, and read the paper or surf the net (free wifi) overlooking the high street. It's not a bad place to take a time out in the afternoon, or in the midst of a shopping excursion.
If you can pay the price, Whole Foods delivers the goods.

Wholey Macaroni! - This store has to be experienced to be believed!

With a prime spot in Kensington High Street's Barker building, The Whole Foods Market is stunning in its layout and seemingly endless choice, to say the least.

Their motto is 'Whole foods, whole people, whole planet' which sounds a bit cheesy (no pun intended) but from the moment you walk in, you are surrounded by stunning displays of tantalising, tasty looking foods wherever you look. The place looks slightly retro and has a nice cosy feel in spite of its size, (and my sceptical side makes me think it's to make you buy more! :-)

As their name suggests, they are focused on selling whole foods, free of additives, chemicals, sweeteners, etc, and they do it with incredible style, over 3 floors.

On the ground floor, you'll find the bakery, the endless cheese counter, an amazing charcuterie, flowers, a huge selection of olives, a wine bar and a market take-away (not forgetting the endless choice of chocolate!)

The lower ground houses groceries, a fresh juice bar, butchers, a dairy section, a fishmonger, natural remedies, eco clothing & home (and many more!), as well as the Whole Body Clinic and Treatment Rooms (just what the name suggests).

The first floor is home to about 12 or so little restaurants where you can try tons of tasty treats from crepes and waffles, sorbets and gelati, pizza, sushi, puddings and cakes, and there's even an oyster and champagne bar; this area has seating for 350.

I could go on endlessly about this place, but you have to try it out. If you're a foodie, it's foodie heaven. Just make sure to give yourself enough time to browse so that you can really experience the store.

As for prices, well... it's not Tesco, so don't expect Tesco prices! However, you do get top quality and there are treats for every budget so it doesn't have to break the bank.
