Numero Uno in my book! - I was gutted when my all-time favourite Italian restaurant on Lavender Hill shut down some time ago. But then pleased again when I realised there's just as good a one, merely seconds from my doorstep! Its a quiet looking resto, that probably hasn't had it's decor updated since 1985, but don't let that put you off. The menu is classicly italian and there's a great choice. Homemade pasta is excellent, their fresh mozzarella and wild boar ham are also really really good. The guys that work there (esp the old guy) are super friendly and always so gracious - this place is really a well kept neighbourhood secret, so they understand they need to treat their regulars well to keep trade so high. Its 10-15 mins walk from clapham junction but worth that extra stroll for its authenticity. 23-01-08
