No good for Economics - I came here from Norway to study economics in 2010/1, i was told that birkbeck was a good university. the teaching was not good, the exams papers were not good i do not recommend this unversity for economics. 19-04-11

Cheap self improvement - Birkbeck is an adult learning college where you can study all sorts of stuff part-time, full time or short evening courses.

I can't say I loved school, in fact I got asked to leave a couple for being naughty. Then when I finally went to Univeristy I hated it so much that I ended up quitting half way through.

However now I'm all grown up and actually want to learn some stuff so I enrolled in an existentialism course - it was £150 for 11 seminar / lessons and I have to say it was absolutely awesome.

The people that go on these courses are a real mixed bunch, artists, grandmothers, students and everything in between.

They mostly cover humanities type stuff so loads of philosophy, psychology, social sciences type stuff with some creative writing and literature stuff.

I have to say I'm hooked now, after 2 semesters of existentialism I've signed up to do a 'Women in philosophy' course and my girlfriend has even signed up which could be tricky as she's way smarter than I am!

Anyway I love this place and perhaps the best thing about it is that it's nice to have something that isn't work related or related to friends. 23-04-09
