Extremely Happy Customer! - As a successful businessman, I noticed that lettings was a profitable way to make money, so invested in a few properties in the Jewellery Quarter, I shopped around on various city centre agencies, including Maguire Jackson, Belvoir, Accord and a few others, and found the staff in these 3 that I have listed to be rude and did not want to accommodate me, upon reading various reviews of York Laurent, I was skeptical to say the least. I visited York Laurent's office on Frederick Street, and found the staff in the front office to completely contradict the reviews. They were polite, professional, courteous and made me feel as if I was their priority. They scheduled me in for an appraisal and was met by Michael, who was extremely professional, knew what he was supposed to be doing, unlike various other agents that have visited my property, and was delighted when he gave me a good value for the property. They found me a tenant within 10 days which was excellent, and who I have had one rent payment late, but Sue in accounts was straight on the case and had the payment in my account within 2 days.
Whoever says not to use York Laurent, must clearly be a landlord that is difficult to deal with, as I would recommend York Laurent to everybody.
IF YOU WANT TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN BIRMINGHAM, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!

Easy, Professional - I have recently let a flat with York Laurent in the Jewellery Quarter and found the process, staff and apartment brilliant! I moved from London to Birmingham and the agents and staff were extremely helpful during my relocation. Love the flat! Would definitely recommend them!

York Laurent - Ramshackle at best! - What can I say about my experience with York Laurent - So much to complain about!
I've rented before and was quite shocked at the low level of service by these guys.
Staff are Keen to get you signed up and take your money, followed by hidden charges, non existent customer service once you're in, and an almost "untouchable" attitude, the sad thing is, they probably are untouchable once you've signed up. From my experience they have no interest in the welfare of the tenants on their books.
If you do use this letting agents, check all paperwork relating to the property thoroughly, do not sign anything until you are 100% happy that you know rates and charges for the property and what you have to do upon termination of the contract, get this in writing or email and keep it safe.
Ask to see copies of previous bills and rates (winter bills are best) before you put your signature next to anything, don't just take their word for it (essential!).
Have heard many horror stories from others as well, including arranging viewings without tenant's consent!
P.S. I think it's clear to pick out the two comments written by the same person here, mmm... wonder who they work for lol.

WORST ESTATE AGENCY EVER - Awful estate agency with dreadful staff. When appliances go wrong at the flat they accuse you of breaking them and threaten to make you pay for them!! They arrange viewings of the flat without informing you. When you have genuine queries they are dismissive, arrogant and rude. They all need to go on a course about dealing with the public and customers. If I behaved like this in my job I would get the sack!!

Professional and efficient!! - I recently moved to Birmingham from up North due to a job transfer and I couldn't praise York Laurent enough for their help in finding me a place to live. I haven't rented before having lived at home with my parents and their kind advice and professional manner made the whole process so much easier than I expected! They were extremely flexible in making appointments for viewings as they knew I was travelling from quite far away and the properties they chose for me to look at were all exactly what I wanted. The hardest part was choosing between the great selection. Just want to say a massive thank you to the York Laurent team for taking care of me.
I definitely recommend them to others!!

10/10 Service - I have now rented two properties from this agent and I have always found them to be most helpful, friendly, efficient and on the ball. Viewing properties with them was always a pleasure and when I found one I liked, the application process was handled swiftly and efficiently. With one of the flats there were a few minor issues in the 2 years I was there (only to be expected) and they were all handled professionally and promptly. I will definitely use York Laurent again and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

DREADFUL SERVICE - DO NOT USE - Awful, absolutely dreadful. Things go wrong, you are asked to sort them out yourself and claim the money back. Deposit return very slow, currently at 6 weeks, still no sign. Let the landlord bully us out most of our deposit, £135 to clean after we had cleaned with no furniture in, £50 for lightbulbs. Dreadful service ran by amatuers.

Worst letting agent in Birmingham! - By far the WORST letting agent in Birmingham. They are totally non-professional - and this is an understatement!
Very rude, vague about facts they dont want to give out before you pay the deposit. Trick you into signing a lease without giving all the facts before you make the payment for admin fee.
For instance - give incorrect date for house availability while showing just to get you interested, lead you to believe that stuff avlbl at the time of viewing was part of the "furnished house" marketed. All false!
Then once they have your admin fee, they stop returning calls, emails until they want to! Dont give a confirmed date for handovers..the list is endless.
Never been so dissapointed. If I could I would rate them a negative instead of the 1 that I have given them.
BAD BAD experience - never go to them!
