From the old saloon feel with engraved glass to the large open kitchen in the back to the huge leather sofas to the circular bar to the fireplace roaring, this place is ideal to settle into for a nice evening on a cold night or a Sunday lunch with friend or even al fresco dining on a warm summer day.
The Crown is a special place hidden in the Barnsbury area of Islington. We've even spotted Kirstin Dunst here as she lives around the corner. Even stars don't want to get noticed and you won't at this pub. It's unassuming, pleasant and the food is good. The menu changes daily but includes nice seasonal soups and salads as well as roasted chicken, rib eye, sausages w/ lentil and fish dishes. Comfort food if you want it or the option to go healthy. They make the best spicy bloody Mary too.
The atmosphere and service out weigh the food in my opinion as the food is not exceptional but good and it keeps me coming back. I do like the antipasta sharing platters but sometimes you get a great menu and others times an okay menu.
