Excellent old style Thistle, comfortable rooms - not much of a view though if you get a room at the back. good for a first time visit to Newcastle as you can't miss it - it's directly opposite the station. More expensive then many other hotels in the area but worth the money for comfort.Also you are less likely to encounter stag / hen parties here - a problem with many other hotels in the area at weekends.
Try the fantastic chip shop up Pink Lane to the right of the station, thats also where the best pubs are!
