Amazing ex prison turned into luxury hotel! Don't stay here if you are in any way claustrophobic or beleive in ghosts as staying in an ex cell might spook you! Excellent redevelopment and creative flair has gone into making this my all time favourite hotel. From the outside the place looks like a castle, excellent lighting highlights the Victorian castle keep, you enter through the main gate and straight into the reception. From there you enter the prison - just as you imagine - its 3 levels of brillent white painted decking and staircases with the room / cells leading off. The cells are comfortable and stylish.
If you don't want to spend the night, try the champaigne bar - which at one time was the visitors room, sit back and imagine the expressions on the previous occupiers of this building's faces if they knew what had become of it!
