Club Gascon is a great way to get that heart rate up - a double hit of super rich French food and hefty prices will have you spinning at the end of the night. Having been several times now - each visit has been consistently excellent. The first visit was a deux with my husband and we went a la carte, the second with a group of friends and opted for the food and wine tasting menu.
The food is of the small tapas style variety (think Maze or Joel Robouchon), although perhaps a bit more rustic in terms of presentation. Don't be decieved by the prices, you will need to order quite a few dishes from the menu, and this quickly fattens the bill. Foie Gras features heavily, and therefore this restaurant may put off those of a more sensitive disposition. The food and wine tasting option is probably the best way to "do" Club Gascon - ordering a la carte can get a big complicated and time consuming! Service is excellent, as you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre, and the surrounds very subdued. A place for serious foodie hedonists who like their food rich and meaty without gimmicks.
