Cavernous pub!
October 13, 2007
The Knight's Templar is an enormous pub on the edge of The City. When you're looking for a place to drink with friends, but are tired of trying to find a place to stand (by this time you've given up dreams of actually finding a seat) at most ordinary sized pubs, this is the place to go. Seriously, it's massive, with a huuuge main bar area complete with cathedral ceilings and has some tables as well as plenty of pedestals and standing tables spread throughout the room. There are also additional rooms on the first floor that are more suited to eating a meal or having an intimate discussion.
The scene struck me as largely a City and legal crowd, which makes sense considering the location. Unfortunately, due to the giant number of people that can fit into this place and crowd the bar, it sometimes can take some time to get service at the bar, but there are a wealth of options once you get your order taken. Price for pints reach dangerously close to three pounds, which is usually my max, but as I said there's a reasonably wide selection to choose from. I didn't eat anything on my first visited, although I can say that the food arrived incredibly quickly, even on a busy Friday night.
